I really believe your space should reflect you at your core. It should appeal to your sense of sight, sound and smell which is why I love having a vase of fresh flowers in sight, soft jazz music playing and the aroma of my favourite essential oils diffusing. It really is the little things that make a difference to the whole ambience of a room.
Below are 5 of my favourite essential oils and their uses:
Lavender. Lavender oil is most commonly known for its relaxing effects so it's perfect to use when you're ready to unwind before bed. you can inhale straight from the bottle or add a few drops on your pillow. Alternatively, you can add it to your oil burner/diffuser.
Rosemary. Rosemary oil is a great mental stimulant. Not feeling your usual self? add a few drops in your bath water to activate the memory-boosting aroma. This oil is handy for students revising for exams.
Rose. Rose oil is absolutely amazing! I use it mainly on my skin in an oil blend but it is known to help with digestion and anxiety.
Orange. Orange oil is an antiseptic, fatigue reliever and mood enhancer. A whiff of this will wake you up in no time!
Patchouli. patchouli oil is another great essential oil that has powerful skin properties. it is also known for being a great mood lifter so it can help relieve anxiety and fatigue.
Essential oils are very versatile, you can create perfumes with them, body oils or just add them to your oil burner or diffuser to add a beautiful fragrance to your living space. Below are 3 blends you can try:
3 drops of patchouli, 4 drops of ylang-ylang and 2 drops orange (mood lifting)
3 drops of lavender, 1 drop blue chamomile, 2 drops of marjoram and 2 drops of orange (relaxation)
5 drops of bergamot, 3 drops of rosemary, 4 drops of juniper and 4 drops patchouli (combat procrastination)
Play around and experiment with the oils until you find your favourite scent. And remember to always use a carrier oil when applying them to the skin. Make sure you do your research before purchasing essential oils especially if you're pregnant, suffer from epilepsy, high blood pressure and diabetes.
