With Mother's day coming up next month (6th March), i thought it would be a great idea to put together a list of things to do come the big day!
Ah mothers, where would we all be without our lovely mothers...nowhere! the woman that wiped our snotty nose as a kid, cooked dinner every night without fail, gave us the greatest pep talks after ever of disappointment etc i'm sure you get the drift haha but seriously our mothers are superwomen. When i think about all the things my mum did for me growing up, i'm like 'how on earth did you do it all? ' mum's have a habit of putting everyone (and i mean everyone) before themselves and there are times where we all take them for granted. There really is no love like a mothers own, so this mother's day really make a fuss... spoil her and show how much you appreciate her. Below are a list of ideas for any of you that are struggling for inspiration.
Please remember at the end of the day, it's the thought that counts.
There are so many great shows and musicals on at the moment. The lion King and Thriller live both have Sunday showings but unfortunately a lot of the other well known shows such as: Kinky Boots, Motown The Musical, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and Mama Mia do not. You could celebrate early and go on Saturday evening and plan something else for Sunday, i guess.
Kew Gardens & Afternoon tea
Why not take a walk around Kew Gardens, taking in the gorgeous scenery? And when you're tired, take a break and stop off for afternoon tea.
Who wouldn't love a day at a spa? that's literally heaven on earth! check out Spa breaks for a list of local spas that best suit your budget.
Make over & photoshoot
Create some real memories this year by surprising your mum with a make-over and photoshoot! She won't be forgetting this in a hurry.
Short break away
If you can, why not take your mum away for the weekend? Scotland, Ireland and Wales spring to mind. They're near by, so it's easy to get to and fro.
Thames lunch cruise
How does a two course lunch with a great view of the London sights sound? the cruise lasts about an hour and a half. This is perfect get away from the everyday hum drum. I reckon the Thames lunch cruise will be very popular this mother's day.
Hamper filled with her favourites
Why not make your gift real personal by selecting a couple of her favourite items. It can be anything- a tea/ coffee collection, beauty products etc
If wine tasting is more your mums style, why not bring her wine tasting or even get her a wine set from Laithwaites, they have a wide selection of wine available to purchase.
Everyone loves to eat but how many love to cook? everyone, when it's made to be fun! lol. This makes a really great bonding activity. You have a choice of either sweet or savoury; macaroons, sweet treats and petit fours or a Sunday roast. If you like the sound of this, then check out L'atelier des chefs.
Do her chores
Who wouldn't want all their chores done for them? if you're strapped for cash you can make your mum's life a little easier by taking care of her chore list. Throw in dinner and she will love you forever lol
Hopefully this post has helped you decide what to do for mother's day. If you have any ideas i've failed to mention, add them below to help others out.
