Previously i've written about how to prevent acne. But what about when you already have it? what do you do? *scans room* well, fear not, because today i'm going to answer that question for you.
The Remedy: Tea Tree Oil
Ah, good old tea tree oil.... It's antibacterial, antimicrobial and antiseptic. This baby will shrink and dry out those nasties in a heartbeat. I've been using this for years. It was one of the first products i used when i first got acne as well as the Australian body care cleansing gel which also contains tea tree oil lol i was mad for tea tree oil back then. My main concern was to get rid of my pizza face so i could look cute again for my crush haha. Everyone seems to complain about the smell, which i will agree, it is quite overpowering but as far as i'm concerned the pros outweigh the cons lol.
Directions: Tea Tree Oil & Honey Mask
Add 2 teaspoons to a bowl followed by 3 drops of tea tree oil and mix. Apply the mixture to your face, leave on for 1 minute and rinse well.
Where To Purchase?
I purchase my tea tree oil from Holland and Barrett. When purchasing tea tree oil, make sure you check the label to see if it says 100% PURE tea tree oil.
The Remedy: Aloe Vera
Aloe vera is one of the oldest and most popular remedies for acne. it's a natural astringent that removes excess oil, dirt and dead skin cells which further clog pores and cause bacterial infection. Aloe vera heals old scars, reduces redness and swelling.I started using this in 2013 after i got sunburnt. I had no clue about all the amazing benefits of it at the time, now looking back it was defintely a blessing in disguise lol.
Directions: Aloe Vera Gel & lemon face mask
Add 2-3 drops of lemon to the aloe vera gel and apply to affected area before going to sleep. Leave overnight and rinse with water the next morning.
Where To Purchase?
I purchase my Aloe Vera Gel from Holland and Barrett
The Remedy: Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar has several properties that fight acne. It's an astringent and a disinfectant, it's anti-bacterial and anti-flammatory. It also balances the skins ph levels. You can do so much with ACV, it really is a multi-purpose product and best of all it's cheap as chips!
Directions: ACV Toner
Dilute 1 part acv with 2 parts water and apply as you would any other toner. Use twice a day for great results.
Where to purchase?
No, it's not from Holland and Barrett lol. You can get this apple cider vinegar from tesco. I've heard the Braggs apple cider vinegar is king though, so i think i'll be trying that brand next.
