So, I recently tried the oil cleansing method just to see what the hype was all about and to my surprise not only did it sort out my dry skin problem, it also left my skin radiating. Those of you that are not familiar with the oil cleansing method (OCM) it's a method of cleaning with oil. Now i'm sure this sounds a little strange, cleaning your face with oil? but read on and thank me later ;)
If you're new to oil cleansing, it may take a couple of tries to figure out what blend of oils work best for you. The most common oils are castor oil and olive oil but look for oils that cater to you skin condition:
Oily skin- 30% castor oil to 70% carrier oil
Dry skin- 10% castor oil to 90% carrier oil
Normal skin- 20% castor to 80% carrier oil
Moisturizing carrier oils:
Jojoba oil- This is good for all skin types, acne prone, sensitive and normal
Sweet almond oil- good for all skin types, oily and normal
Apricot kernel- good for all skin types, sensitive and normal
Avocado oil- good for all skin types, dry, itchy and sensitive
Grape seed oil- good for all skin types, acne prone and oily
Kukui nut oil- good for all skin types, especially dry and normal
Olive oil- good or all skin types, especially dry
*You need to start with a dry face, pour your chosen oil mix into the palm of your hand, gently massage it onto your face and do that for about 5 minutes.
*Take a hot face flannel, let it cool down and then place it on your face for a minute or two. This opens your pores so the oil can get right in there and give you a deep cleanse. Let it sit there until it's cooled.
*Use face flannel with warm water to remove oil off skin. Splash face with cool water to close pores.
Make sure you remove the oil properly otherwise you run the risk of getting breakouts and also remember to find an oil that suits you skin type. You should see clearer and more radiant skin within a few days.
If you do decide to try this out, let me know your experience with it
